Kiss of Death endorsement for Bill Back
Parsky Watch #34

PARSKY KISS OF DEATH CLAIMS A NEW VICTIM

First, it was his mismanagement of California Bush-Cheney 2000, where Bush-Cheney’s California numbers declined SIGNIFICANTLY after Parsky took over,

Then came his disastrous “professionalization” of the CRP in 2001, followed by his equally disastrous command of the statewide GOP political effort in 2002.

Now, the infamous Parsky Kiss of Death has claimed a new victim: CRP Vice Chairman Bill Back.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware Back’s candidacy for CRP chairman is being consumed in a firestorm over his distribution of an article claiming the U.S. would have been better of if the Confederacy had won the Civil War, and further claiming it was Reconstruction – not slavery itself – that really poisoned race relations in the country.

Back has no-one but himself to blame for distributing such a racist article. Such heedlessness has no place in the party chairmanship.

But Back is indisputably the hand-picked choice of Gerry Parsky to be the next chairman of the California Republican Party. This shameful episode once again calls into question whether Parsky possesses even a shred of good political judgment– and whether the White House wants to place President Bush’s California re-election strategy in the hands of a man with such an abysmal track record.

PW makes no endorsement in the state party chairman race. Duf Sundheim has certainly been no friend of the Parsky Watch. Bill Back, for his part, long ago sold his soul to Gerry Parsky in hopes of one day being rewarded with the party chairmanship. Anyone familiar with the Parsky M.O. knows Gerry’s sole criterion for party chairman is that the position be filled by an empty vessel who would function as an extension of Parsky’s will -– a political eunuch fit only to parrot the Parsky line.

Bill Back is now discovering first-hand the slow painful death that is the Parsky Kiss of Death. Gerry’s sort of like a carrier who is immune to the disease he carries even as it fatally infects those around him. We’ll leave it to the political pathologists to study this curious phenomenon. In the meantime, rest in peace Bill Back.
